Kapalai Dive Resort is a floating resort consisting of 59 purpose built chalets on top of high wooden stilts in the middle of the ocean. The innovative design keeps in touch with a traditional Malaysian Kampung (village in Malay) and looks absolutely stunning on top of the crystal clear turquoise waters of Kapalai. The chalets are linked together with miles of wooden walkways which make it great for those who would like to have their morning jog while gazing out to the miles of brilliant turquoise stretching into the horizon.
The Kapalai Dive Centre provides a vast selection of kayaking, snorkeling and diving equipment to rent as well as offering a large range of PADI diving courses including Night Diving and the ever popular Open Water course for those who would like to learn to dive. Kapalai Dive Resort’s other facilities include a games room, broadband internet and a souvenir shop.
Kapalai Dive Resort’s location is ideal for those who want to dive Sipadan, it’s the closest to the island out of all the resorts which means you can spend more time diving and less time in boats to and from Sipadan; it also raises your chances of receiving a Sipadan dive permit. Kapalai Island spends most of the day underwater and by itself is one of the best “muck” diving sites in the world, perfect for those macro shots. Although not the cheapest resort for Sipadan diving, its location and facilities are top notch.
