Occupying a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach on Mabul island, Borneo Divers Mabul Resort provides effortless water access for shore and boat diving. With over 30 private semi-detached cottages, Borneo Divers Mabul Resort makes sure there is always enough room for guests. Due to the dive sites being within close proximity to the resort it makes things easy to return for your surface intervals and enjoy the cool tropical breeze on your private veranda.

Borneo Divers Mabul Resort also has a very well equipped conference centre which makes it ideal for meetings, exhibitions or company getaways. The Borneo Divers Mabul Resort’s conference centre can easily accommodate up to 80 attendees and with facilities like LCD digital projector, slide projector, overhead projector, PA system, podium and white board you won’t have to worry about bringing your equipment with you.

The topography in the waters around Borneo Divers Mabul Resort is vastly different from the sheer walls of neighboring Sipadan, with shallow, sandy bottoms and gentle declines, Borneo Divers Mabul Resort is ideal for first timers or beginners. You will also be able to participate in a PADI diving course to improve your diving abilities, while still enjoying the wondrous marine life found living in the reef surrounding the island.

Mabul Island is home to many strange and exotic creatures, you will be able to see dozens of species of Nudibranchs, Shrimps, Crabs, Eels and Fishes. With the bottom being quite sandy the diving won’t be as “mucky” as some other macro dive sites. You will be able to find some rare creatures like Blue Ring Octopus, Flamboyant Cuttlefish and Mandarin Fish in the area; you will also be able to see species of Sea Horses and Pipefish. If you are a photographer or videographer and would like to snap a certain species just let the expert Borneo Divers guides know and they will be more than happy to take you to areas where you will be more likely to see them.

Borneo Divers Mabul Resort is one of the cheapest alternatives to diving in Sipadan and narrowly missed out being rated as one of our budget resorts. Sample Itinerary (5D/4N)

Day 1
  • Meet and greet by Borneo Divers staff at the hotel lobby for flight MH 2121 @ 0700/ 0745 hrs for Tawau or meet at Tawau Airport at 7:45 a.m. in the morning. Transfer to Semporna by van or coach for approximately 1.5 hours journey. Arrive in Semporna and proceed to Mabul Island by boat around 10:00 a.m. for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour journey, depending on the sea or weather condition. Expected to arrive Mabul Island at 11:00 a.m. and proceed for briefing, registration and check-in. Lunch will be serving at noontime.
  • There will be 2 boat dives on your first day arrival and one of the boat dives will be an orientation dive with our Divemaster (Subject to 1st Schedule Arrival).
  • 2nd Schedule Arrival - 2:20 p.m. from Tawau Airport to Semporna. From Semporna to Mabul Island will be at 4:00 p.m.
Days 2 - 4
  • 6 boat dives with Professional Divemaster - Combination of Sipadan or Si Amil or Mantabuan or Kapalai Island.
  • 3 boat dives with Professional Divemaster - Mabul Island
  • Unlimited Jetty House Reef Dive in Mabul Island
Day 5
  • Free at leisure in the morning. Check-out.
  • Departures from Mabul to Semporna: - First Schedule at 06:30 a.m. and Second Schedule is at 11:30 a.m.

    Hello, I am thinking of coming to stay + dive with my family in the last week of March 2012. I am a BSAC qualified Sports diver with over 120 dives, my husband is BSAC Advanced diver. We have not dived for a few years now, so we would need some kind of refresher dive to start with. Plus 2 children age 10 and 12 who have never dived before but are confident in water, and would like to ideally do the PADI Junior open water diver.
    Can you please let me know the availability and the cost of the PADI courses. I understand they could do the PADI theory lessons online prior to our holiday with you, which would leve them to do skills in the pool and their compulsory open water dives??

  • Currency: Malaysian Ringgit approx 3MYR to 1USD
  • Language: Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese, although you would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't speak English.
  • Food Prices:In Semporna a seafood platter for 4 people can cost under 100RM(approx 28USD). Resort prices may vary
  • Alcohol Prices: 3 bottles of beer can cost under 30RM(approx 9USD) and a bottle of wine starts from 60RM(approx 18USD) in Semporna. Resort prices may vary
  • Sipadan Island:Got its name from the word Siparan which refers to a person who has been found restless on the island's beach.
